Haiku is a short poetic form of traditional Japanese poetry. Traditional Japanese haiku consists of three lines and contain a special word the kigo that indicates the season in which the haiku is set. Generally a haiku must combine two different images, have a focus on description and have a pause (the kireji or "cutting word") at the end of either the first or second line.
