Quickie the cat,
pure pleasure purring.
Swiftly
she stalks the mouse,
from the dinning table
to the living room floor,
on to the kitchen slab,
then leaning against the door.
Sometimes she silently slinks,
sometimes she softly mews,
at times when the prey is close,
she sputters and sizzles like static.
Sated of fun and games,
she crawls to a corner and curls up,
licking paws and sharpening claws, to get them ready for the next hunt.
