Darter - Photograph by Ron Saldino
Darter
(Anhinga melanogaster), also called
Snake Bird
(Anhinga rufa), is a scarce breeding resident
in Haryana. It is found
in the wetlands. Chiefly feeding on fish, its habits are quite similar to those of the Cormorants. The yellowish dagger like bill and the long snake like neck are its main identifying features.
